What is IUI?

Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) is a simple, minimally invasive fertility treatment where prepared sperm is directly placed into the uterus around the time of ovulation. It increases the chances of fertilization by bringing sperm closer to the egg.

IUI is a procedure where the husband's or donor's (in cases of donor IUI) semen sample is processed in the laboratory to separate motile, healthy sperms and remove dead sperms and debris from the seminal fluid. The processed sample, now rich in motile and healthy sperm, is loaded into a thin catheter and injected directly into the uterus.
